Came here today for the first time and definitely wish I diddnt ! Popped in for a afternoon drink and we was greeted by a rude lady behind the bar who was also eating Crisps and getting crumbs on the bar
The atmosphere was really off it was just a bunch of older men staring at everyone
Can’t comment on the food as we didn’t eat but definitely won’t be going back to try

Had to go to Barclays this morning so decided to pop in the Tavern, friendly staff, good beer but when I went to the toilet I had to ask (tell) 3 guys taking cocain to move out of my way. Not impressed at all.

Lovely, busy pub serving great food and beer, the only thing I can mark this place down for is the service, eg you're waiting at the bar to be served but if a local walks in he/she/them gets served before you, completely wrong if you ask me

My wife and I called in today at approximately 1330hrs I walked to the bar and said good afternoon to the lady behind ( I've found out she's called mandy) she replied with a snap table number so again I said good afternoon again she snapped table number so I thought OK and was just about to say my table number and again she snapped at me table number. I told her and started to give my order she was I'm my opinion a very rude person. Part way through i said you are rude when all i did was say good afternoon she ignored me. so after ordering the drinks I felt I could not stay here so my wife and I are now eating at Yates

Didn't have any food, so simply cannot comment.
Great atmosphere, lovely local people, very friendly.
Drinks are cheap, compared to other local pubs.
Strongly recommend

Wasn’t my favourite place to be, as you walked in there’s a group of locals, obviously regulars shouting and swearing, not a good advert to people on holiday.

I'm a local lass and enjoy the Tavern outside seating, especially when we get treated with sunshine in the summer. Since the venue changed owners during lockdown I felt like the atmosphere would change - but no!
It's always a pleasure to have a break on the way from shopping in town. Today was the first time I've tried the food and the panini was top drawer, perfectly toasted and served with fresh salad leaves and yummy coleslaw.
Highly recommended whether you are a tourist or a local customer.
